Prem Rawat Inspires Viewers as Millions Watch TV’s “Words of Peace” in Brazil
I-Newswire press release
São Paulo, November 1 — Prem Rawat, known in many parts of the world by the honorary title Maharaji, has become a favorite of Brazilian TV viewers who watch the popular cable program “Palavras de Paz” (“Words of Peace”).
The program features excerpts of Prem Rawat delivering his unique message of peace and inner fulfillment to audiences in some 50 countries. More than 9.5 million people have attended these events to hear his inspiration and guidance, and his efforts to bring peace to individuals have been recognized by governments, heads of state, and civic and business leaders on every continent.
“Words of Peace” airs 6 times a week in São Paulo and 1-2 times per week in 9 other Brazilian cities, with a total weekly audience of 7 million. It is carried nationally on 4 networks (NET, TVA, Community TV, and Canal de São Paulo) and is hosted by Brazilian journalist Ilmara de Paula Vieira, who owns a Brazilian news agency and has her own TV news program.
According to Ivete Belfort, a resident of São Paulo who started the “Words of Peace” cable project in 2003, hundreds of viewers have contacted the show to request further information or express their gratitude.
A typical viewer is Itamar Beto, 30, a professional writer, who emailed this message: “Last year, I was recovering from surgery when I first saw Prem Rawat speaking on TV. I listened to the program and realized what a very important message it was for me. Since then, I regularly listen to his videos and TV programs. Now I am introducing him to my friends.”
Ms. Belfort is pleased with the popularity of “Words of Peace,” especially in São Paulo. “We wanted an effective outlet like TV to promote Prem Rawat’s message in São Paulo,” she said. “I had the opportunity to present ‘Words of Peace’ to several TV channels that had a high viewership and quality programming. Their receptivity to the program was very good, as they considered it an important message for everyone. Now ‘Words of Peace’ is seen on several cable TV channels on different days and times. I do not see São Paulo being without it.”
Last November, The Brazilian Association of Community Television Channels presented its highest award to “Words of Peace” at a gala dinner in São Paulo. The dinner was attended by 1,200 heads of media organizations, business leaders, and representatives of the state and federal government. Fernando Mauro Trezza, President of the Association, said in his presenting remarks, “While many programs are special, some are essential. ‘Words of Peace’ is one of these unique programs.”
The Prem Rawat Foundation promotes Prem Rawat’s message of peace and spearheads significant humanitarian initiatives around the world.
