Prem Rawat Addresses Enthusiastic Audience in Spain

Barcelona, Spain, April 27, 2006 — A capacity audience gathered in the grand hall of the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya in Barcelona to listen to Prem Rawat, widely known around the world as Maharaji. They came from all over Spain, the south of France, and Portugal to hear him. More people came than were expected; a special room was set up for the overflow crowd with a live link to the event. For many, it was not the first time hearing him speak. Some people have been listening to him for years; for some, it was the first time to hear him in person. This year marks the 30th year he has come to Spain and his 40th anniversary of bringing his message of peace around the world.

He addressed the audience saying, “You need happiness because you are a human being. This is your nature. The request to be happy, to feel peace, comes from within you. Don’t underestimate it. For as long as you are alive, that request to be in happiness and peace will be there.”

He continued saying, “Your nature is to be fulfilled. All the tools that you make to reach to the moon, with the same two hands reach inside, take that focus, put it within you. And not just talk, but feel the ocean within you. Dive into that ocean. ... Find the source of joy within you. Have peace every day. We are here so that we may feel that peace.”

There were exuberant expressions of appreciation following his address. For Chelo Alvarez, a journalist and documentary filmmaker from Madrid, “Some people say that to attain peace, you have to give everything up. As he said, if that were true, everyone in prison would automatically have it. But thanks to his inspiration, there are many in that situation who are enjoying peace within. He talked about the people in prison who write him letters and the peace they feel, even in that situation. This was really impressive.”

A woman from Barcelona named Maria Isabel said, “I was profoundly affected by what he said. As he said, it’s easy to get caught up doing things for people, but it’s important also to feel good inside. It finally dawned on me that I need to feel good inside, too.”

A physician who works in an intensive care unit at a private clinic in Madrid, Manuel Alvarez, said: “He speaks with his heart, and his words reach very deep into my heart. One particular sentence that inspired me was when he said, ‘Everyone knows that a drop lives in the ocean, but very few truly know that the ocean lives in each drop.’ It made me want to discover within me that ocean of peace he was talking about.”

Prem Rawat just completed a tour of India where more than 1.7 million people came to hear him. For 40 years, he has been traveling, bringing a message of hope to millions of people: “There is a peace within that every human being can discover for themselves.”
