Prem Rawat Welcomed by Malaysia's Chinese Community

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, August 10, 2006 Responding to an invitation from the Malaysian Chinese Association's (MCA) School of Political Studies and  University Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Prem Rawat, widely known as Maharaji, delivered the keynote address at a special event called “Peace Is Possible,” held for members of the Malaysian Chinese community.

The event took place in the great auditorium of the Malaysian Chinese Association in Kuala Lumpur. Prem Rawat addressed a distinguished audience including health minister, Datuk Dr. Chua Soi Lek; chairman of the council of UTAR, Tun Dr. Ling Liong Sik; and the secretary-general of the MCA, Dato Ong Ka Chuan. In attendance were also deans, faculty heads, academic staff and university students, as well as government, civic and business leaders from the Chinese community. The event was covered by several TV channels and leading newspapers.

During his one-hour address, Prem Rawat said, “Look within you for what you think you are missing. Look no further than yourself. Peace is within every single being. That is where you will find peace. It begins with every single individual.”

“Peace does not belong to any religion, country or society,” he pointed out, adding that everyone must find peace for himself first before helping to bring peace to the world.

“The search for peace,” he said, “begins with understanding that what I am looking for is truly within me. Then and then alone can we embark on the process of accepting peace in our life.”

Prem Rawat is also founder of The Prem Rawat Foundation, which furthers his message of peace and spearheads significant humanitarian initiatives around the world. In recent weeks, the Foundation has been providing food relief for over 900 people after the earthquake in Indonesia. In the last 18 months, the Foundation has provided millions of free meals to hungry people in need throughout the world.
