Over 3 million people participate in events with Prem Rawat in India
New Delhi, May 3, 2007 — Traveling through India and Nepal during March and April, Prem Rawat, known also by the honorary title of Maharaji, has addressed over 800,000 people at 36 events, with an additional 2.25 million listening via five live satellite broadcasts.
Highlights of the tours included an event in New Delhi, with over 130,000 people. A second event near New Delhi with 75,000 in attendance included a live question-and-answer session where people throughout India could watch the address and the public asking questions via a live satellite broadcast.
In addition to events in the Indian states of Gujarat and Rajasthan, Prem Rawat visited Nepal for the first time since 2000, with close to 80,000 people from all over Nepal attending an event near Kathmandu. In Kolkata, over 2,000 young people engaged him in a lively interaction at a special session. The following day, over 50,000 listened to him speak at Ravindra Sarovar Stadium in Kolkata, while another 450,000 watched the satellite feed in centers throughout India and Nepal.
A local newspaper in Raigarh District, noted that the event with 50,000 people, Prem Rawat’s first event ever in Chhattisgarh State, was the largest gathering since Prime Minister Indira Gandhi visited the area 27 years ago.
For Narendra Satya, from Jashpur, “I really liked today’s event. I want to listen more. He did not talk about religion; he talked about inner experience. This is what I liked the most.”
For Jyoti Shaw, a student from Howrah, who attended the question-and-answer event, “This program was heart touching. I did not believe that life was so simple. He talked about the possibility of enjoying each and every breath of life.”
