February 2010 — Food for People (FFP) in Tasarpu, Nepal has been receiving some very positive attention lately from district government leaders and the national press.

At a conference on February 3, 2010, the Dhading District Development Committee (DDC), which governs the village of Tasarpu, invited representatives from Premsagar Foundation Nepal, which runs the Food for People program, to give a presentation about the program's activities and impact.

A grant of US$50,000 from The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF) will help provide a two-week supply of bottled water for 42,000 people in Haiti

February 2010 — A grant of US$50,000 from The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF) will help provide a two-week supply of bottled water for 42,000 people in Haiti; distribute purification sachets to produce 13 million gallons of potable water to communities where none is available; and distribute oral rehydration solution and salts (ORS) to treat 125,000 children and adults at risk of severe dehydration and water-borne illnesses.

TPRF Grant of $25,000 Provides Eye Care for over 13,500 people in India

February 2010 — The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF) gave US $25,000 to sponsor multi-day eye clinics in seven cities December 2009 through January 2010 that provided eye care free of charge to over 13,500 people in India.

Almost 10,000 people received prescription glasses, over 10,500 were given eye drops for infections, and more than 1,700 were diagnosed with cataracts and referred to hospitals for further treatment.

TPRF Donates $50,000 to Provide Food Aid for Earthquake Survivors in Haiti

January 2010 — Within days of the earthquake in Haiti, The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF) made a donation of US$50,000 to provide immediate food aid for survivors.

TPRF teamed up with one of its ongoing partners, Friends of the World Food Program. The World Food Program (WFP) was able to begin delivering food within 24 hours of the disaster, since it has an already-established aid operation in Haiti, long ranked as the poorest nation in the western hemisphere. With stores of ready-to-eat food and trained staff already in Haiti and in the nearby Dominican Republic, WFP has now delivered rations to over 200,000 people in and around Port-au-Prince.

TPRF Gives US$25,000 to Help Provide Eye Care for Children in Palestinian Territories

October 2009 — A $25,000 grant by TPRF is helping St. John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital (SJJEH) to provide eye care for 30,000 children in an area of the world where blindness is ten times higher than in the West. Chairman of SJJEH, John Talbot, said, “The continued, generous support of The Prem Rawat Foundation this year will permit the St. John Eye Hospital Group to expand and improve our much-needed services for the children of East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza.”

TPRF Makes Two Grants to Provide Relief in Pakistan

September 2009 — TPRF has made grants to Shirkat Gah Women’s Resource Centre and ActionAid International to help many of the 650,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Pakistan affected by the country’s recent internal conflicts. Dr. Saman Yazdani Khan, Regional Director for Shirkat Gah, states, “It will ease the discomfort and desolation of their unwelcome situation.” Peter O’Driscoll, Executive Director for ActionAid, said, “This work is powerful. And, without your support, it would not be possible. Thank you.”

President and CEO of Charity Navigator, Ken Berger, wrote TPRF that this rating indicates “that The Prem Rawat Foundation executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way and outperforms most other charities in America. This 'exceptional' designation differentiates The Prem Rawat Foundation from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust."

Prem Rawat Named Ambassador of Peace in Potenza, Italy

July 2009 — Prem Rawat was given the title of “Ambassador of Peace” for the province of Basilicata, Italy, after addressing a distinguished audience at an event called “Peace: Human Heritage.” He was invited by Basilicata President Vito de Filippo, who said in his introduction at the event, “We look forward to this high level of thought from Prem Rawat. Tonight an important seed will be planted that we will nurture and grow, for this is a land of peace.”

TPRF Donates US$30,000 for School Lunches in Soweto

July 2009 — Thanks to a grant of US$30,000 to the African Children’s Feeding Scheme (ACFS) by The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF), 500 of the poorest students at the Emndeni Junior Secondary School in Soweto, South Africa, will be receiving nutritious lunches. Executive Director of the ACFS, Sister Rejoice Nkutha, wrote, “This will provide nutritious food to 500 children in Soweto, thus improving their quality of life. We also thank Prem Rawat for his message of peace to people around the world and providing essential humanitarian aid to the people in need.”

Prem Rawat Receives Key to the City from Mayor of Tainan

May 2009 — On May 23, at the invitation of Mayor Tain-Tsair Hsu of Tainan, Taiwan, Prem Rawat was awarded the key to the city and spoke to an audience of 800. “The Peace Ambassador has finally arrived in Tainan City,” said Mayor Hsu, “and we have to collaborate with him to contribute to peace and harmony in this world. We have to trust in peace. We cannot wait for peace to descend. We have to have the confidence in ourselves that there is a source of peace within us that is not only for ourselves but for everyone in this world.”

The Prem Rawat Foundation Gave US$20,000 Grant for Water Aid in Haiti

April 2009 — TPRF gave a $20,000 grant to address a dire shortage of clean water in Haiti. Over 7,000 people will be helped over the course of the coming year. Linda Pascotto, President of TPRF, says, “Our hearts go out to the children and people of Haiti, who suffer from such severe malnutrition, dehydration, and disease. It is part of our mission to help provide human beings with the simple basics in life—clean water to drink, to cook with, to bathe in, and basic nutrition—in hopes of living a better life and with dignity.”

February 2009 — Agrigento and Mazara del Vallo have joined Corleone in recognizing Prem Rawat’s international efforts for peace and awarded him honorary citizenship of their cities. Giornale di Sicilia reported: “In his addresses Prem Rawat expresses an idea of peace as a ‘new essential need,’ which is fundamental for relationships between people and a reality existing within each individual.”

CDPF is a respected charity that specializes in attending to the needs and rights of disabled people in China. TPRF’s challenge to Facebook members is to raise an additional $50,000, for a total of $100,000, which can supply food for 60,000 people for one month.

With a grant of at least US $100,000, TPRF is partnering with Friends of the World Food Program (FWFP) to help the UN World Food Programme (WFP) bring immediate aid to the hundreds of thousands of survivors who have been stranded without food, shelter, or potable water.

TPRF has donated $26,000 to Montañas de Esperanza or Mountains of Hope (MdE), a local non-profit in northern Ecuador, to provide relief to flood victims in the coastal village of Santa Lucia. The grant will supply 32 tons of vital food supplies to feed 1,500 families (c.7,500 people) for one month. This will be one of the largest deliveries of aid to flood victims by a non-government agency on the Ecuadorian coast to date.

TPRF has made a grant to the Cambodian Children’s Fund (CCF) to bring food and water to more than 300 children in three centers for children of very poor families on the outskirts of Phnom Penh, the capital. One child at the CCF shelter explained that she had felt like a flower that no one had cared for but that “now this same flower is taken to a new place where it can get water and care every day.”
